If you’re looking for some Call of Duty Black Ops 4 multiplayer details, you’ve come to the right place. At the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 community reveal today, developer Treyarch gave us the details on their most ambitious Black Ops game yet, with Treyarch Chairman Mike Lamia calling it the “deepest, most replayable game in our history.”

A Multiplayer Focus with Single-Player Options

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will emphasize on the multiplayer experience while delivering narrative and character depth through those modes as well. The pillars of Black Ops 4 are: Multiplayer, Zombies, and Blackout (Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode). The single-player narrative experience in Multiplayer will include solo missions set in the Black Ops Universe between Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. These solo missions will feature Specialists from Black Ops 3 and new Specialists introduced in this game, providing players a place to practice techniques and learn about the Specialist’s past. On the other hand, the narrative experience in Zombies will be explored through the three maps available at launch, containing the option to add AI teammates for those who wish to play by themselves.

An intricate, fast-paced and fluid Black Ops Game

This time around, Treyarch has decided to take the best of every Black Ops game, add some new aspects and game mechanics, and blend it all together in an attempt to deliver an unrivaled Call of Duty Black Ops 4 multiplayer experience to date. At today’s community reveal, Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar broke down for us why Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer is their best yet.

Game Mechanics

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 multiplayer will see a variety of changes to its game mechanics. To start off, Vonderhaar confirmed the removal of the unpopular thrust jumping and wall running from the game. Vonderhaar went on to clarify that Black Ops 4 will be “100% boots on the ground.” In order to keep the fluid and tactical pace of Black Ops 3, Black Ops 4 will have a “Guns Up” mechanic. This game mechanic will the player to move and interact in the game while keeping your gun up. Such examples are when the player throws a grenade, using equipment, and activating Score Streaks.

In an effort to make multiplayer more team-oriented and interactive, Black Ops 4 will have a Fog of War mechanic. Players will only be able to see areas on the mini-map revealed by the player and his or her teammates. Naturally, enemy players will reveal their location when firing a weapon unless it is suppressed.

Weapons

In previous installments of Call of Duty, weapon attachments were shared across weapon classes. In Black Ops 4, each weapon will have its own unique set of attachments to make weapons stand out from each other. A new set of attachments to Call of Duty are Operator Mods, attachments intended to expand a guns capabilities beyond its core function.

Additionally, for the first time ever, Call of Duty will introduce a True Predictive Recoil pattern system, allowing players to make micro adjustments while aiming and shooting. With the consistent recoil pattern, it allows players to learn and adjust to each weapon’s recoil, eventually mastering the handling of the weapon.

Health

Healing will no longer be automatic. Instead, you can now manually trigger the healing process, similar to reloading a weapon. From the gameplay we saw at the reveal, this allows for more  tactical, if not aggressive, style of play. The introduction of this mechanic means you spend more time where it matters, in combat!

Specialists

With the return of Specialists, players will have to coordinate and form a well-rounded team if they’re going to dominate the match. Specialists revealed today include:

  • Ruin- a gap-closer Specialist. Has a Grappling Hook ability to traverse faster through the map. Also has an area-of-effect ‘Grav Slam’ which kills enemies nearby on impact.
  • Seraph- a Specialist with the ability Tac Deploy, a Team-Wide spawn beacon which controls the flow of combat.
  • Firebreak- a Specialist in area control. Has the ability Reactor Core, which burns enemies in a nearby radius. He can extend the length of Reactor Core by sacrificing his health.
  • Crash- a Medic who can restore and give bonus health for a limited time. He also distributes Assault packs to resupply his team.
  • Torque- a master in disrupting aggressive play. Can lay down razor wire and deploy barricades for cover.
  • Recon- an expert in Situational Awareness. Has the Sensor Dart and Vision Pulse ability with gives vision of enemies over an area.
