Battle for Azeroth New Allied Races Part 2 (Horde)

Welcome back! Part one of our Battle for Azeroth Allied Races series covered the new Alliance allied races, which means we’re moving on to the Horde in this installment.

Allied Races Galore!

The Horde have four confirmed allied races so far; Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, Mag’har Orcs, and Zandalari Trolls. We still don’t have any information on how to unlock Mag’har orcs or Zandalari trolls. On the other hand, the Nightborne and Highmountain Tauren are playable with certain requirements being met (one being the pre-purchase of the expansion).

The Nightborne were once Night Elves who were isolated behind a protective barrier for 10,000 years. The Suramaritan elves became more dependent on the arcane power of the Nightwell. In order to protect this power, the elves made a deal with the Burning Legion which started a war. The Nightborne fought against their demonic masters for freedom, and sought out help from the Horde to reclaim their place in the world. The Night Elves did not fully trust the Nightborne, which led the First Arcanist, Thalyssra, to form a bond with the Sin’dorei.

Allied Races

To unlock the Nightborne as a playable race, players have to reach exalted status with the Nightfallen and complete the ‘Good Suramaritan’ achievement. That means completing all 11 chapters in Suramar, and “Insurrection”, which is another 9 storylines that become available when exalted status has been achieved with the faction. The classes available to the Nightborne are Mage, Hunter, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior. The racial mount rewarded for unlocking the race is a Nightborne Manasaber.

Highmountain Tauren

The Highmountain Tauren are descendants of the Hero of the War of the Ancients, Huln. The Highmountain are excessively spiritual; they honor the spirits of earth, river and sky. The legion invaded their home, which harbored distrust between them. Now, the Highmountain stand united and willing to lend their strength to their kin from Kalimdor and join the Horde.

Allied Races

The unlocking process for them is the same as the others. The player grinds out reputation with the Highmountain Tribe faction until exalted, and completes a scenario showing how the Highmountain Tauren joined the Horde. The player must complete the achievement ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ which is 7 storylines that can be completed once exalted status has been reached. After unlocking the achievement, you’ll receive the recruitment scenario, which touches up on the story behind Spiritwalker Ebonhorn. The available classes for the Highmountain are Druid, Hunter, Monk, Shaman, and Warrior. The mount awarded for this race is a Highmountain Thunderhoof.
